ARTIST BIO
BiPolar was born as Michael Glazov Jr on November 21st, 1978 in Moscow, Russia. Since early childhood he has been surrounded by music as a great-grandson of a piano teacher. Always an outgoing and vivacious character he was put in an environment to tune his performing skills at the early age of 5 culminating with a performance at the 27th National Communist Convention in front of the President of USSR Mikhail Gorbachev. At the age of 11, BiPolar came to the U.S. with his father and moved to Philadelphia in 1992. With his father often at work until past midnight and the rest of his family still in Russia, the streets became home for Bipolar in many ways. Here is where he acquired a love for hip hop music. Spending much time in North and West Philly, he was not just listening to commercially successful acts that were on the radio, but he was also exposed to the underground scene that was blooming at the time. Acts like Smiff N Wessun and Black Moon were just as prominent in his headphones as A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. At the same time, he was watching local acts like The Roots, Ram Squad and 100X cement their legacy and realized that he wanted to do the same. After honing his skills as a rapper in many cyphas around the city and doing random shows under the name KD tha Illadelph Assasson, he changed his name to BiPolar which was more descriptive of him and his lyricly diverse style. During the Summer of 2009 his first album “Sickle and Hammer” we be released as an independent artist. Fully aware of the difficulties of being taken seriously as a cocasian rapper he is trying to defy the odds by sticking to his street roots and keeping away from nonsense lyrical content. With the streets buzzing and the radio friendly hit “Clap” getting great reviews he is sure to make his mark on the streets of Philly and beyond.
